The Department of Biochemistry was inaugurated on February 2021 with 150 MBBS students. Our department is one of the best undergraduate teaching departments , with our students performing lab experiments, observing the clinical lab activity and engaging in active discussions with the faculty during the process. This department now receives 150 MBBS students and 25 Diploma in Lab Technology students. The Department consists of well equipped students laboratory & research laboratory.
The Medical Biochemistry is made to understand by interactive lecture sessions, small group discussions, self-directed learning and integrated teaching. Practical classes are being conducted to emphasize the significance of a simple biochemical test that gives the clue to early clinical diagnosis. Early clinical exposure sessions are conducted to enhance clinical knowledge to the students.
The Clinical Biochemistry is one of the pillars of Laboratory Medicine which is involved in selection, provision and interpretation of diagnostic testing, confirming a clinical suspicion, screening for a disease, monitoring the prognosis and severity of a physiologic disturbance. The Clinical Biochemistry laboratory provides round the clock services in aiding the diagnosis and management of the ever increasing number of patients who attend the Government Medical College Hospital Krishnagiri . The department clinical services include Basic Biochemistry Parameters and Endocrinology.
The department also gives extensive training and imparts high degree of professional competency to Post graduates ,M.B.B.S students, Medical Laboratory Technology students and other paramedical students on the essentials of biochemistry.
